A day in the life …
Many people ask what a typical day in the life of a dog walker consists of … so here we go.
(This is based on a typical day)
6AM
It is time to get up, shower and start the day.
Dressed and with some of my pockets filled with items for the day, head downstairs and feed the dogs.
Coffee is next on the agenda … at least one large cup before I head out.
7:30AM
Time for the first walk of the day with my own dogs, Daisy and Stan Lee. Normally an hour to 90 minutes.
9AM
After at least another cup of coffee, time to make sure my diary is done, I have my post it note of who to walk and in what order. Pack my food for the day, get drinks, treats, poo bags, keys, etc. Head out to the van and the real work starts!
9:30AM
Dogs picked up and its time for walk number two. This could be anything from 30 minutes to an hour long.
11AM
Dogs walked, dropped off, more dogs picked up and walk number 3 of the day.
12:30PM
Another walk completed, dogs dropped off and more picked up, it is off to my regular middle of the day client.
2PM
Midday walk done, dogs dropped off, more picked up. Lunch rushed between driving and dog collection, it is off to walk number 5!
4PM
Last walk of the day, or pop in.
5:30PM
Dogs dropped off, head home and drink at least 2 more coffees.
Feed my dogs.
Then it is time to make sure that all the videos and photos from the day of customers dogs have been sent, with any updates that may need to be informed - medical or behavioural.
Diary time, planning for the next day and answering messages and queries from customers and prospective new customers. (I do not answer calls or text whilst I am with dogs … or driving!)
Update socials and website if I need to, do accounts for the day.
7PM
I am mostly finished for the day. Just the random message to reply to now, have some dinner and have some chill time before bed!
